KIRKUS REVIEW

Another book in Jane Tompkins' animal twin series takes Friskey and Velvet from their first days as soft, mewing kittens, into their first year as young otters. Following the seasons, the personalized narrative is familiarly patterned and styled, and the otter family go through the expected round of activities. Doings and habits peculiar to otterhood have their entertainment value too, as Friskey and Velvet slide around in their pond, escape dangers and grow up.
