THE SEA CART

Pub Date: Aug. 14th, 1961

Jean Louis, a French Canadian lad longs to go to sea with his father. Unlike the other children who earn money from the tourist trade, Jean Louis sets out to build a boat of his own in order to prove his independence. The finished product is neither land-nor-sea-going, but with ingenuity he is able to maneuver the cart-like structure through the waters. Papa is satisfied and though he offers the boy a chance to come aboard, Jean Louis prefers earning his own money as a sea cart gondolier. He proves his worth but by the time he does so, the young listener's attention may have dwindled beyond recall.
