A sequel to the Penny Parrish books -- strictly for those who have read the others; as a study of marriage it cannot be recommended, but friends of Penny will be glad to follow her further adventures. Penny Parrish, successful stage actress, is married to producer Josh MacDonald and has become the mother of two children. Dreamily happy with the children in her country home, Penny never considers returning, to the stage. However, after reading Josh's new play, and seeing wily little Neda in action as the star, Penny is delighted to have the opportunity to take over the role when Neda leaves. As lead in a popular play and as a mother, Penny meets problems which require a careful adjustment to both, and reaches what she feels, is a new maturity. The story is frothy and meaningless, as marriage is seen through flickering rose lights, success comes too easily, and the problems Josh and Penny face are glamorously removed from the specific marriage difficulties many in the late teens are sure to face. Questionable departure from realistic situations.
