BENJAMIN BIG

When Benjamin Big, Tim's big black Newfoundland dog, broke the leg of Pee Wee Morse's Airedale in a scrap, Tim was afraid pee Wee would seek revenge. Turkeys disappeared at the Morse farm and Pee Wee told the police he had seen a big black dog skulking about. Benjamin Big's reputation was good for he had rescued a missing child lost in the mountains, but Tim despaired when the dog disappeared completely. The marauder at the Morse farm is identified -- a big black renegade fox -- and Benjamin Big is returned to a grateful Tim after an accident on the highway. Relatively easy reading with the action and animal heroics so necessary to this age group.
