The fourth in the series about ""wee Jeanie"" Robertson (who succeeded all those Friends written by Janet Sandison/Jane Duncan--one and the same)--Jeanie who's as sunny and sensible as a dandelion, even after the misfortune of her lover's death coincident with that of Miss Bessie (she's been looking after Miss Bessie and Miss Jessie, sisters, since she was fourteen). But there's a reminder of the dead Colin in the bairn she bears; there's also old Miss Hattie whom she takes in; and an inheritance; and residuals of the early books, particularly Charles, now a doctor. Jeanie's philosophy is ""I think it is a question of being needed""--the best way to face another day.
