CHALLENGE OF THE COULEE

Farming in the Columbia River basin today presents orthodox problems to the family of the hero, 17 year old Syd Clayton, who wants to be an engineer. With Mr. Clayton recently dead and the oldest brother Dave, temporarily crippled, Syd bears a double heavy burden- of restoring land he does not want to work. Complicating his task are a rowdy neighborhood gang for whose pranks Syd takes the blame, and Pete, the Clayton's hired man whose neglect and crookedness brings them to near ruin before he is caught. But facing matters squarely, Syd is able to put his engineer's mind to work on projects that provide the farm with equipment and irrigation, clear himself of blame, and once again become honored in the sight of the girl he loves. Adult.
