Kaplan (The Botox Diaries, 2004, etc.) introduces an interior decorator who risks her life and drops a slew of brand names en route to clearing her plastic-surgeon husband of murder.

Dr. Dan Fields is such a good person. Not only does he use his surgical skills to help an adoring host of Hollywood stars maintain their youthful beauty, but he turns his mighty talent to the benefit of the scarred and maimed masses as well. So when LAPD’s finest haul Dan off to the pokey on charges of strangling never-was starlet Tasha Barlow, his wife Lacy pulls on her Jil Sander pantsuit and goes in search of the real culprit. Since not even her best Chanel can convince criminal attorney Chauncey Howell that Dan is innocent, she enlists the aid of her friend Molly Archer, a casting director, to get the lowdown on Tasha. Before she can kick off her Sigerson Morrison pumps, she’s being choked by prime-time news correspondent Roy Evans, who cavorted with Tasha in the weeks before her death; handcuffed to her car by Johnny DeVito, Tasha’s hoodlum ex; and dumped on the set of a George Clooney movie in her La Perla underwear. Still, Lacy perseveres, braving security guards and omelets made with egg yolks, just to clear her man.

There’s an actual mystery buried deep in the bowels of this Perils-of-Pauline-in-Prada for those as determined as Lacy to find it.
