Two small mice, brother Thump and sister Plunk, have a tongue-twisting set-to--with their two mouse dolls, Thumpit and Plunkit. At the height of the (unprovoked) plunking and thumping, and thumping and plunking, their mother comes in to ask who started it, to tell each of them to stop it, and to take them both off to have ice cream. There may be some glee at the sight of the two swinging at one another (no suppressed hostility here), and some titters at the sound of the mother's stern who-plunked/thumped-whom-first admonition to the abashed pair. But it's a thin conceit to build a whole book around.
