Here we have a Frenchwoman, a patriot, and Minette, a cat, whose owners are the caretakers of Versailles. How Minette, once an unwanted waif, achieves status in the Palace and is elected to live in the historic chamber of the King makes up the essence of this thoroughly Gallic adventure. Minette is distinctively French in her independent and canny nature as she introduces the young audience to the grandeur of the famous palace of French Kings. Somewhat bland illustrations by Alain and an acceptable but uninventive story by the author of The Elephant and the Flea and The Magic Stones.
