MAREK, THE LITTLE FOOL by Janina Domanska

MAREK, THE LITTLE FOOL

The tale of wily simpleton Marek is sure-fire: sent on one after another errand, he makes such a mess of things (giving his brothers' lunch to the shadow following him; leaving a table, bought in the village, to walk home on its own legs, etc.) that he's soon left alone to sit ""on the stove catching flies the day long."" For their part, the bright, schematized pictures have a carnival gaiety that well suits the bare-faced nonsense of--for another--covering some ""poor,"" ""burned"" bare-headed trees with pots and pans. Minor Domanska--but modestly successful.
