Another lubberly attempt to recycle The Peter Principle. Since in any corporation the job of a manager is to solve problems, he must above all insure that plenty of problems are generated. To this end Harrison outlines various obstructive techniques guaranteed to thwart creativity, nip innovation in the bud, multiply paperwork, encourage worker discontent and constrict growth and profits. Stu Sufferlong, Jason Fastclimber and other corporate Big Shots explain such management principles as Cognitive Discordance, Strategic Myopia, Exuberant Demoralization and Innovative Complacency -- all tending to stimulate industry chaos and/or paralysis. Properly executed all such procedures will lead to the promotion of the Manager while mavericks and reformers are liquidated or neutralized and the status quo remains undisturbed. The book is itself a first rate example of one of Harrison's techniques -- Prolific Ponderousness.
