A translation from the Swedish, prize winning novel. Realistic picture of Finland, in the throes of the aftermath of war and revolution around her, while the Red and the White Russians use her as a stamping ground. The story of a man of the peasant class, who, after a wild boyhood, felt the call of the Church, then lost his faith, and finally, after feeling himself a failure as chaplain in a prison camp, enters himself as a prisoner, and finds his justification. Somewhat the sort of appeal Oliver's early books (Foursquare, etc) had.
