THE DYNAMICS OF CHURCH GROWTH

A man who learned the way as a missionary and a missions' administrator cries, ""Nonsense"" to a number of theories held by devoted Christians everywhere. One has to do with conversion. Dr. Pickett decries the way the growth of the Church is retarded by those who feel no one should be admitted to Baptism until he is a good, trained pratising Christian. It was not so in the early Church, and it is not so now, says the author. Growth in Christ demands a real corporate situation, and the sooner the better. Likewise, becoming a Christian need not mean the breaking of every other tie unless we really feel only white American Republicans ever get to be Christians. Those with a wider view must face the need for indigenous expression of the faith. Finally, we must realize that the power of Christian Faith in the only force superior to the Communistic challenge, and even than only when it is proclaimed aggresively by people who believe in it passionately. This is no manual on how to make your local congregation bigger; it could be a guide to world evangelization.
