A RANGE GUIDE TO MINES AND MINERALS

By

Pub Date: Sept. 9th, 1964
Publisher: Harper & Row

The author of The Rockhunter's Range Guide (see p. 1079, 1961) here applies his specialized knowledge to mines and minerals in America. He defines mineral rocks (there are tables indicating various stages of occurrence); discusses reparation for mineral collecting (with reference to geological and mining reports and maps and advice as to equipment required); collecting itself (care and preservation, labelling, display cabinet organization); techniques of prospecting for profit. There is a state by state list of the sites of deposits and their nature, with a referral to other sources of information for states especially rich in minerals. The essential characteristics of ore and minerals are also given in a supplement to the earlier book's coverage. This parallels the earlier treatment of The Rockhunter's Range Guide.
