A fascinating day by day account of the impact of nihilism on a cultured American. Dodd's book is personal as well as political; there are amusing incidents, outspoken comments on personages and events. It is interesting to see the change from passive acceptance to enthusiasm, as the propaganda machine goes to work. It will be too bad if it's looking backward flavor results in the book being passed by.
