PICASSO: BULIS AND BULLFIGHTERS

To be published on the occasion of Pleasso's 80th birthday, this facsimile edition of four sketch books with 136 drawings, 32 in full color, represent this artist's lifelong fascination with the bullfight, and the ""drive and spontaneity"" of the work it occasioned in pencil, crayon, pastel, black and white wash and sepia. There is an introduction by the great matador, Miguel Dominguin, his friend, on Picasso, the artist who is ""the very image of all Spaniards in the world of Art"" and the man. Georges Boudaille's eassy deals with the many artistic patterns bullfighting provides, and the particular source of inspiration it proved to Picasso: ""a theme that is unique and multiple, a style that is homogeneous but infinite"".... While perhaps for a more special audience, it is an important addition to the library of the great contemporary artist which, in book form, now makes him available in the home, and it is an appropriately striking piece of bookmaking.
