It's interesting, though ""Richard"" outshines her: it certainly is colorful: and the biography makes two eccentrics very real. Isabel Arundell wanted no fame but to be Richard Burton's wife, and after ten years, she did marry him. She was proud of her explorer-linguist-writer stormy petrel husband; she worked continually for his recognition and advancement; she revelled in the official and foreign life his consular service provided. Her own letters, diaries, reveal how thoroughly she enjoyed the peculiar status she had achieved, their official, social and mediumistic world, their crowded, busy life. She secured his title for him; she carried on the fight for his eternal fame after his death.
