A personal credit banker, who for thirty years has used his vast knowledge of how to go about getting out of debt through proper financing to help some 250,000 people, shares his conclusions with his readers. (One confesses that after reading his book, one feels that all the world's in debt;) His story is a human interest document in terms of how and why people get in debt, what the factors are that compound the problem, how specific situations can be analyzed and met, and how debt can ultimately be met and then a cash and carry basis reestablished. He shows how there are good ways and bad to borrow money -- and what is the actual (including the hidden) cost. He discusses the proliferating schemes for loans points out their dangers and links the whole process to the character of the borrower. On this rather than on collateral the ultimate test rests. He urges a long term look- a system for paying off a realistic approach to consistent installment payments. One basic principle he recommends is to accelerate your borrowing in order to have sufficient money and time to clear up all debts. To this end, various steps must be taken: turn your assets into cash; know where, and how, to borrow. He gives considerable space to the secrets of a practical budget, the leaks only too often responsible, ways to save while you spend, how to avoid mistakes in money management if you are to live on your income and not without it. In the right hands, this is a very important book; in the wrong hands it could be dangerous.
