This writer/sex-therapist team makes some unique factual contributions to the teen-age-sex bookshelf--e.g., people are more susceptible to herpes when they're run down; and there's a sexual sign language. Ranging broadly while relating each topic to decision-making, the authors discuss vibrators; masturbating with condoms in order to learn how to use them; the future of vaginal condoms; why the angle at which it's seen makes boys think their penises are too small; STDs; the relationship between substance abuse and weakened defenses; and looking at sexual activity from a religious point of view. The question-answer format used for some chapters is not unusual, but having ""the girls speak"" and ""the boys speak"" is mutually beneficial. The questions are also down-to-earth: ""I'm embarrassed sometimes when my pants get wet. Why does this happen to me?"" Refreshing candor and detailed illustrations make this highly informative for older teens and their adult mentors. A splendid job. Glossary; bibliography; index.
