DEVILS IN THE CASTLE

It's ugly and it's pointless; it's half Bemelmans and half Seuss. ""Once upon a time"" in a girls' boarding school in France (that could be mistaken for Madeline's if the drawing wasn't so clumsy and the coloring wasn't so harsh) a horde of ""little brown creatures"" take over the attic, resist the girls' efforts to get rid of them, and finally go off with a schoolboy rescue squad--""the boys found the devils more amusing than frightening."" If that's the point, the devil take it.
