Crime Club selection. A light touch keeps this pleasant and quite satisfactory. Barlow, investigating a shot across the hall, finds his psychiatrist tenant dead and a beautiful girl with a gun in her hands. This is the beginning of his romance with Rusty and of the strenuous struggles to keep the police from her trail. Subsequent snarl-ups in the murders of Rusty's fiance and brother make it harder for Barlow to clear her, uncover the plot and come up with the killer. But he does. Deft and debonair.
