PERSIA I

This volume in the Archaeologia Mundi series initiated with a study of Mesopotamia (p. 1114, 1965) covers Persian civilization from its origins to the Achaemenid Empire with which Iran entered into history. Again the emphasis is on archaeology, on methods and results. The last thirty years of excavations, from Gaiyn in 1931 and most particularly the opening up of Tepe Siylak in 1933, have been the most significant.
