TODAY THE SUN RISES

Frankly, this struck us as a bad cross between fiction and spiritualism. Monica Reamish tells the story of Honour Cartwright, whose life she claims bears a ""strange parallelism"" to her own. Monica is a hangover of 1914 era, who lounges through two husbands, sundry lovers, a career, and has as confidante Honour who ""materializes"" at off times. Honour too had had two husbands, and a son by each. Come the second world war, her sons are fighting on opposite sides, one German, one English. She seeks solace in Monica (why, one wonders?), and at the close, Monica sends her back to steadfast Mark, and in so doing, realizes that she too has someone she can count on...Perhaps we missed the point, but it seems sorta screwy to us.
