THE FAUVES

This study of the group of painters who were rather loosely affiliated in reaction against Impressionism has been made by a man who knew many of them personally- and it includes along with its most famous members (Matisse, Vlaminck, Braque, Rouault, etc.) a number who are increasingly well known to American viewers and collectors in the last ten years (Valtat, Marquet, etc.) There are 100 stunning full color pictures, obviously those which are most representatively Fauve along with an extensive text. To be regretted- the lack of index.
