. . . will sound an everyday note with most children. As apartment dwellers the Clark family had had no pets for the children. But Jenny, a mongrel from the Angell Memorial Hospital, brightened their new home, a gloomy Bostonian Victorian house. At first Father disapproved of their ""seven-dollar dog"". But Jenny's gambits, her playfulness,-- and her wonderful cooperation in being the ""straight man"" for Father's jokes -- won him over. Most children will love Jenny for her mongrel ancestry, for the horrendous mistake she made when the minister came to call and for being an average mutt- a dog with little conformation but lots of personality.
