THE DIEHARD

Lew Morgan is a man that everyone wishes dead -- his son and daughter-in-law and the man she loves; his daughter; an old conquest; his oldest friend to whom he has just refused another loan- all except the woman he is to marry now he is a widower. They all work at it -- the oldest friend in caught in his own trap and low is alerted to the possibilities from the others, makes his show of disgust and defiance and achieves the wished-for result accidentally. Portraits in perversity keep this sharp.
