KIRKUS REVIEW

Another city girl is on the way to finding happiness in a country kennel, but Linda soon takes a back seat to the Keeshound, Gabriel, whom she finds beside his dying mother in the woods and later returns to his ""rightful"" owner. The preparation for Gabriel's show career involves much fussing and fawning, grooming and training, dosing with child psychology and even the exhumation and X-raying of his mother's skeleton to prove the pedigree while Linda stays around to coo over his performance in the ring and ask naive questions about judging and award categories. Gabriel goes on to win Best of Breed at the Garden -- on a diet of sugar syrup and canned sawdust, an unlikely accomplishment.
