UNICEF AND THE WORLD

There are two positive factors in this book's consideration for selection: it comes in hard covers and it gathers together a great deal that has been issued in separate pamphlets by the UN and used in magazine articles. In photographs and text, the work of the United Nations Children's Fund around the world is described. (A list of countries assisted by UNICEF is appended.) Long on pictures (the author is picture editor at UNICEF) short on text (lengthy captions, really) the book is easy to browse. The Children's Charter -- Declaration of the Rights of the Child -- adopted in 1959 is also included.
