PUSS IN THE CORNER MYSTERY

The treasure is some mysteriously missing antique stencils -- the major clue, a cryptic message written in quilting terms. When 12-year-old Bonnie MacLean finds out that the owner of the recently reopened Hitchcock chair factory wants to purchase the valuable stencils, she and her three friends decide to conduct a thorough search for them and eventually locate them sewed up in an heirloom quilt. Despite the introduction of such exciting details as Bonnie's far-fetched assumption that her windowed mother's suitor is also after the stencils, this mystery provides about as many thrills as a dish of pablum.
