You want I should tell you.... ....A Husband Isn't Everything is a successor to Everything But a Husband. It's full of the same kind of delicatessen philosophy--""Love is the garlic in the salami of life""--and when you get right down to it, lox is just an anagram for schlok. This one is about Celia Bikman, 29, from the time when she rushes to her mother's bedside in Miami beach. She's a good daughter. Every mother should have such a daughter. And then there's Gloria Brown. No mother should want her but every man does. She projects sex and puts out--sort of like a conveyor belt--all the time. Well, Celia marries Bernie, who turns out to be a gambler and is killed at the track, and Gloria hooks Martin, a millionaire ""in the youth of maturity"" who finally throws her out (she's been spending every single afternoon on her back), and then Celia meets Martin, and, and.... Over and over Martin glumly refers to Gloria as ""garbage"" and she really is just offal. So is the book.
