CITY WORKERS

City workers are not all municipal workers: besides the policeman, fireman, postman, etc. (and the librarian), there's the cashier in the supermarket, the gas and electricity repairman, the bank teller, the factory worker, the employment counselor (consonant with the book's approach to each of these as a job category) and several others. A full-page photo shows each at work, a few simple sentences explain his function. It's a utilitarian item altogether, all the more so because the majority of white collar and professional slots are filled by blacks.
