This is an interesting little book of concepts and definitions focusing upon words connected with the term ""living."" It is perhaps a little crowded, moving rapidly through many areas as indicated by a partial list--environment, ecosystem, carbon dioxide, chlorophyll, fungus, etc. Definitions are rather sketchy but each section has suggestions asking ""What do you think?"" or ""Try for yourself,"" which opens the possibility of deeper exploration given adult guidance. The two-color line drawings are skillful in presenting information to help the child in these activity sections.
