KIRKUS REVIEW

How to combine household doodads with simple ingredients (""goo, glop, gunk, and goop"") to make your own Christmas decorations. Best of show: the pine cone wreaths, tin can ornaments, and fabric tree trimmings--styrofoam shapes decked with plush velvet, ribbons, and beads. Runners up: dried flower bookmarks, ingenious candleholders, and transparent coasters and trivets, although the last need special work conditions. The rest are predictable (candles, macaroni trees, spray-painted angels) or forgettable (sequined pine cones). The text mixes precise directions with chummy asides, a plus for first-timers but distracting overall.
