A continuation of The Crooked Furrow, with the story of Oliver, Clia, Roland, Robin seen ten years later. Rumors take form, old charges creep to the surface, and it looks for a time as if Oliver and Clia could not marry as they had planned. But it all comes out eventually, and the process is sweetly sentimental, with less of the strenuous activity of the previous book, not as much of the ""horse and away"" that one expects from Farnol -- and a highflown style.
