THE SECRET LIFE OF MR. WEIRD

Mr. Weird is the new dog that Sally and Sydney Sylvester pick out at a musty old pet shop. They call him that because he sleeps all the time and won't play with them. Then they discover that he is busy all night while they're asleep. What he's busy doing is preparing an elaborate and weird system for returning to the pet shop. One night, in wings and helmet, he roller skates down a steep hill and onto a trampoline, bounces into the air, and finally lands across town on the pet shop roof. Thus he and the old pet shop owner are happily united, while Sally and Sydney, who've been spying and following on bikes in their pyjamas, get a frisky new dog in exchange. It's offbeat in an incidental way, but Delaney's brash, punchy cartoons give it momentum.
