THE TROUT FISHERMAN'S BEDSIDE BOOK

By

Publisher: Simon & Schuster

The title tells the purpose -- for the outdoorsman's guest room and a welcome companion for a pre-snooze browse. Although it has a few short articles devoted to dogs and hunting, the book is for fishermen to dip into and, most particularly, for trout fishermen. The author is well known for his years of contributions to Field and Stream Magazine and his Dud Dean stories. Maine is his hunting and fishing parish (he's known as the ""Fishing Parson"" and holds an annual service for glers), trout are his specialty, and his short pieces in collection are warm, personal and happily pantheistic celebrations that will appeal to the fellowship of the rod and gun.
