In this sequel to And Then Everything Unraveled (2009), Delia is starting to adapt to life in New York City and finds the task made a little easier by the presence of her new best friend, Natalie, and romantic interest, Quinn. Though she’s flunking physics, Delia’s not focused on raising her grades. Instead, she’s concentrating on stopping a plot to murder her mother, who is hiding from her enemies in South America. She’s also worried that Quinn’s father is in on the murder plot. Guided by a psychic friend, Delia packs a bag and makes a last-minute trip to Argentina, where she and Quinn join forces in an attempt to take down Quinn’s father, a woman who tried to have Delia killed and one of her mother’s high-ranking employees. Delia’s story reads like Gossip Girl meets Nancy Drew. Surrounded by wacky-yet-loyal friends and family, Delia collects clues to her mother’s whereabouts and solves the mystery. The primary and secondary plots are tightly written, moving the mystery forward in every chapter and wrapping up the story lines in the final pages. (Mystery. 12 & up)
