This is an English import. Advice and admonition add up to one major message: if it's worth doing at all, showing your pony is worth doing well. Tack must be in order, clothes must be spotless, pony must be groomed to a fare-thee-well and attitude must be sporting. Specific directions for each of these matters, especially pony grooming, are reasonable explained in simple language. Good ring manners, the mistakes to avoid in showing your mount, the positions of judges and how to survive their decisions are also considered with British clam. Photographs and line drawings accompany the text and Thelwell's cartoons relieve the earnestness that horse dedicated girls bring to their competitions. This seems aimed at the more elegant in early equitation circles and frightfully sound. It's by the author of A Pony in the Family -- a shockin' thought really, but a generally well received book.
