A husband wishing to get rid of a threatening mistress locks in a 17 year old for a murder rap and, when his plot gets a wrong finals, has the boy as a spectre in his life. The boy, Joey Tripp, is haunted too when he makes his escape and attempts to live another kind of life out of town. And both are again involved when an outside blackmail attempt and the man's wife bring them face to face. Complicated -- competent.
