AMERICANS ALL OVER

Readers' Digest commissioned Beatty to investigate human interest stories and personalities of Americans the world around, and the result makes first rate reading. They include such varied personalities as medical missionaries, conquering unbelievable obstacles, holding down outposts of civilization; a sports promoter in Paris; a physical trainer in Italy; an American seigneur of an island; a dude rancher in Africa; and many others. The author and his wife made the investigatory trip together and their own experiences are woven through the other stories. Where--as not all the Americans included may be your dish nor mine, he makes them vital in what they have accomplished, and gives a vigorous picture of conditions under which they live. Adventures for the vitiated -- and for all who have lost faith in Americans.
