Not an orthodox biography, but amusing, impressionistic record of fleeting moments here and there in the life of the well known New York artist. There is no attempt at retailing facts of his life, but rather a recapturing of moods and thoughts. Reveries alternate with comments on aesthetics, on the profession of art, with one chapter of friendly testimonials to fellow artists. The last half of the book contains 100 photographic reproductions of his work, with facing pages describing each picture. A nostalgic book, slipping occasionally into sentimental tones.
