PICTURE BOOK OF THE WEATHER

Here's another attractive looking picture-science book by the author-artist of Picture Book of Astronomy and Picture Book of Molecules and Atoms. There's the same simple approach and colorful layout, and we wish we could be as enthusiastic about it as we are about the predecessors, for there is definite need for just such a book at this age level (or even younger). Unfortunately, the text is studded with half truths, over-simplifications, semi-superstitions, and downright errors that drive science teachers mad! All blended with sound scientific facts about weight, motion, pressure of air, temperature, clouds, rain, frost, snow, hail, dew, humidity, lightning, rainbows, storms, etc.
