This is a completely original -- and completely cockeyed travel book. Actually it breaks all the laws of reasonable expectations. The author (I Can Get It For You Wholesale) traveled around the world, while the world was turning topsy turvy, and he was almost home again before he recognized one tiny atom of real enjoyment or profit. He had done those things that he ought not to have done and left undone those things that he ought to have done. He did get a thrill out of a harbor or two, but most of the way he was bored or homesick or both. Viewed as a wholly uncanonical journal of a round the world traveler, I should define it as a bad case of growing pains, with increasingly strong doses of antitoxin delivered successively, from England to the South Seas, taking effect just as he faced the last lap, knew he was homeward bound, and that England was at war. A much more interesting psychological experiment than travel book.
