PET HAMSTERS

Using a format similar to that of his Pet Mice (1989), Wexler describes selecting and raising hamsters; offers advice on cages, equipment, diet, habits, and health; depicts mating, birth, and the hamsters' day-by-day development; and concludes with tips for photographers. His own close-up color photos are especially appealing. Clear, practical, and exceptionally well detailed: a useful manual for pet owners, photographers, and science enthusiasts. Unfortunately, the type is rather small and densely packed, but content and illustrations are appropriate for a wide audience. Index.
