VILLA MIMOSA

Some may remember the earlier Island Rescue and its ""Operation Venus"", a minor wartime manoeuver involving the rescue of a cow; now another more significant espionage enterprise- ""Operation Firefly"" - deals with the evacuation of the Villa Mimonsa, near Pas de Calais, an establishment conducted by Madame and her six pensionnaires (filles----de joie) and patronized by officers of the Panzer Corps. And there Major Hans Ramberg met for not purely pleasurable purposes with other Germans as a central part of the anti-Hitler conspiracy. It is Charles Addison, alias Bertin, a watchmaker in the nearby village of Coville, who succeeds in gaining entree to the Villa Mimosa, wins Ramberg's admiration and partial confidence, returns to England to help blueprint ""Firefly"", and back to effect it successfully....Perhaps not quite as fresh as the first, but a pleasant, romantic skirmish.
