JILL FELL DOWN

Without straining the credibility, this manages to be an extremely pleasant account of how Jill's world is turned upside down when, innocently asking a man for a light, she is arrested for soliciting. She appears in court, the story gets into the newspapers, the young doctor who loves her slugs the policeman who arrested her and is himself arrested and jailed. Then the story of Jill's renunciation of the society world she had known, and her ultimate finding a job; of the wait for the doctor's release, and the events which finally brought back to his profession. Likeable people, sympathetic presentation -- an appealing job. There is tragedy and comedy -- and sophistication with a light touch.
