The you is more radical than the new since Dr. Thompson has a simple exercise by which you can correct misalignment but then other osteopaths (he's a California practitioner) can also straighten out most conditions with a dexterous jerk. The exercise, the pull-back, helps ""almost any"" problem and Dr. Thompson himself has ""never had a failure."" Most of the book however (after recommending ice packs, discommending heat and diathermy, traction and surgery) includes his ""Yoga-type"" program to keep fit and younger the year and years round (from deep breathing to headstands) and avoid those old sacroiliac, newer disc problems which all can be generalized as lower back discomfort. If you stoop to pick this book up you'll have a chance to see how it works -- it seems reasonable enough.
