DOWN THE DARK STREET

A psychologist turns novelist, and can't resist making a novel out of what reads like a detailed ""case"". The author traces the career of a small town boy, enticed by a gang of toughies into petty thievery, and from that point started on a career of crime. He escapes from the house of detention, falls in with a big time crook, and eventually is caught and recommitted to the reform school. A revealing and terrible picture of the mechanics of ""reform"" -- and its results, ending for him in Sing Sing and the chair. For those interested in prison stories and inside pictures of places of correction, rather than for those who want straight fiction.
