SECRETS

A pretty book, with illustrations in conventional vein and full color reproduction by Elizabeth Orton Jones -- but text and thought are a bit too precious, too studied, for spontaneous child reader appeal. In verse the span of a day in a child's life introduces her to many ""God's secrets"" in nature, through which she is supposed to get a conception of how God reflects love, security, and self esteem in his wise handling of the problem of nature. The use of the title -- Secrets -- seens a trifle far-fetched and misleading, but has definite merchandise appeal. The idea back of the book is sound -- the results seem over-sentimental.
