THE SYNTHETIC PHILANTHROPIST

Small town tantrum (in Iowa) when Morris Helget, young reporter in search of a story, combines with Trickery Mark Brayhouse, notorious scoundrel, to make a hero of him. Brayhouse, whose bark is much worse than his bite, agrees to make a donation if it will be matched by other leading citizens. He does it, in the main, to put his fellow citizens on the spot; but he has to continue to play the part to save face. Morris goes from one idea to the next, and ends by whitewashing Brayhouse. At the close. Brayhouse volunteers one really sincere beau pests. (On the side, boy meets girl). Obvious -- with comic intentions --carelessly written.
